It is an edition for all: the comprehensive textual and interpretative analysis adds much detail to our knowledge of these four texts while helping a new generation The ballad “The Lord of Lorn and the False Steward” (sung to the tune of Greensleeves) dates back at least to the sixteenth century, and it in turn was possibly derived from the Scottish romance “Roswall and Lillian.” Both works contain the story of a young lord (or prince) who is forced by his treacherous steward to switch places.
